Day of the Dead

In anticipation of Mexico’s Day of the Dead, I created this calavera (skull) by assembling twigs, flowers, seed pods, shells and leaves from around my home and then making an imprint of it using white ink and black rice paper.

It was a project done to celebrate and honor the life of my deceased loved ones. My late-husband, Rick and I both always loved the colorful, joyful, calaveras that are displayed at Day of the Dead festivities, so I feel pretty confident that Rick will approve.

Titled “Calavera”, ink on rice paper, 20 inches x 16 inches
