Description

Among the most highly esteemed food fishes in Hawaii, the Kumu played an important part in early Hawaiian sacrificial ceremony where they were often used as offerings. Goatfishes are characterized by a pair of chin whiskers called barbels which are used to probe and detect hidden invertebrates and small fish. Endemic to Hawai’i.

This is a limited edition print created from the original gyotaku titled “Kumu (Parupeneus porphyreus)“. Each print is matched to the original with meticulous accuracy and created using the finest museum quality archival paper and pigment-based inks, so you can enjoy your artwork for many years to come.

The edges of the paper are deckled, and can be framed either behind a mat or “floated” above a backing to show off the paper’s deckled edge.

Each print is signed, numbered, and stamped with my red seal. It will be accompanied with a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
