Description
In anticipation of Mexico’s Day of the Dead, I created this calavera (skull) by assembling twigs, flowers, seed pods, shells and leaves from around my home and then making an imprint of it using white ink and black rice paper.
It was a project done to celebrate and honor the life of deceased loved ones. My late-husband, Rick and I, both always loved the colorful, joyful, calaveras that are displayed at Day of the Dead festivities, so I feel pretty confident that Rick will approve. I was able to make two impressions from my assemblage. Each one is a unique and one-of-a-kind work of art.
