Description

Hawaiian Bonefish (Albula virgata) — called “O’io” in Hawaiian — are fast-swimming, strong silvery fish that are popular with anglers. Two species occur in Hawaii, one is endemic. This specimen was caught by local Maui fisherman, Aaron.

Original, one-of-a-kind gyotaku. Imprinted in the Chokusetsu-ho method of gyotaku onto washi paper using non-toxic soy ink so that the fish could be returned to the fisherman and enjoyed in a meal afterwards. I added a subtle ink wash of metallic ink to capture the shimmering essence of these beautiful fish.

The paper measures 18 inches x 38 inches and has deckled edges. Titled and signed in pencil and stamped with my red seal in the lower right corner. It will arrive with a certificate of authenticity.
