Description

Surgeonfishes are named for the sharp, sometimes venomous blade-like caudal spines ahead of the tail. The Orangebar surgeonfish is commonly seen in small groups, on shallow sandy reefs. Body changes at will from two-toned to nearly black. Juveniles are mustard yellow, gradually developing an orange bar. Hawaiian name: Na`ena`e. This fish was caught by Maui spear-fisherman, Ricki Cole.

Original, one-of-a-kind gyotaku printed in the direct method of gyotaku onto beautiful washi paper using an archival, water soluble, printmaking ink. It is PH neutral (acid free). The paper measures 11 inches x 17 inches and has a soft deckled edge.

One of the main ways to protect your artwork from moisture, dust, and UV rays is to frame it under conservation glass or acrylic which has a coating that blocks the UV rays. A mat is optional, as long as the artwork is not in direct contact with the glass.
